Post-Election Apostolic Revival! – CAC Friday Communique for 11/9/12

"All times are the times that try men’s souls… The age one lives in is always in crisis… Politics is for most of us a parade of abstract symbols which our experience teaches us to be a benevolent or malevolent force that can be close to omnipotent" — (Edelman, 1977).

Isn’t it awesome that Spirit-filled Apostolics remain undistracted and know, beyond a doubt, that the Lord God omnipotent reigneth!? (Rev. 19:6)

Dear saints, we have absolutely no spiritual reason to pine away nor moan and groan about the election results. Of course, we’d prefer to have a conservative in the office of President of the United States, but so would Polycarp (early church preacher who was burned at the stake) have preferred not to be martyred! Neither circumstance shakes the power, the commitment, the hope, or the promise of "life more abundantly!" For just a second, let’s talk about exactly WHY this is true…

Just last night, I received the following sobering email from Bro. John Knott, Jr., a great, stable, and deeply committed, Holy Spirit-filled man of CAC:

Pastor Haymon,
Wow – God has really been speaking and working on my heart ever since your message Tuesday night and the election results that followed. Thank you for making it plain, as you always do! I hope you don’t mind if I share what’s been weighing heavy on my heart since Tuesday night/morning.
Yesterday (Post-Election), as I walked around the office, as I talked on the phone with business associates,…I sensed and saw great concern, anxiety and fear amongst my fellow conservatives friends. I saw one person with bloodshot eyes from crying, and noted that the general countanace of these people was eerily similar to post-9/11. Some feel they’d be better off to give up then to put up. Others are leaning toward the idea that, "if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em." It’s unbelievable! I’m talking about very conservative people who really love America. While I was posting "by the grace of God, He will lead us on"…a very conservative lady, who works down the hall from me, updated her facebook status with, "for the first time in 6 months, I smoked a cigarette today …" She’s really been trying to quite. When I read that, I about cried. This is a real conservative, patriotic lady who moved here from England about 15 years ago. She has absolutely fallen in love with America. Now America has let her down and she feels crushed.
While I am very concerned for the future of this country – I am VERY excited about the potential I have to witness to people who would’ve never opened up before. What an opportunity we have… Corrupt politicians and liberal Americans have slowly pulled God (our foundation) out from underneath America. Like the man who built his house upon the sand, America is starting to crumble beneath our feet. Some people, like my conservitive co-workers, are left feeling hurt, abandoned, hopeless, and lost. God help me to reach these people while their hearts are tender. I know there are thousands more out there feeling the same.
Pastor – I’m ready and hungry for Revival at CAC.
Praying for you and your family,
Bro. John

My response was as follows:

Wow. Sobering indeed. However, opportunities for revival–I mean a sweeping kind of soul-shaking, life-ripping, spirit-transforming revival–have never been so prominent.

Just meditate on scriptures that talk about contrasts…. Here are a few… I’ll leave them with you to ponder…

Proverbs 4:18-19[»MSG – The ways of right-living people glow with light; the longer they live, the brighter they shine. But the road of wrongdoing gets darker and darker– travelers can't see a thing; they fall flat on their faces.].

Genesis 1:4-5[»MSG – God saw that light was good and separated light from dark. God named the light Day, he named the dark Night. It was evening, it was morning– Day One.].

Numbers 33:3-4[»MSG – They marched out of Rameses the day after the Passover. It was the fifteenth day of the first month. They marched out heads high and confident. The Egyptians, busy burying their firstborn whom GOD had killed, watched them go. GOD had exposed the nonsense of their gods.].

Do you catch my drift? Historically, God’s people have always been less effective with less adversity. The more calm, rational, and stable our surrounding society, the less we stand out. When chaos, confusion, and anarchy broke out, Moses was the powerfully interposing figurehead. No one wondered where Moses was and what Moses was thinking when he confronted the dancing frenzy around the golden calf! His leadership was more essential at that moment than it was even in the presence of Pharaoh!

All that to say, had Mitt Romney won the election, (and the marijuana proposition lost), I’d be one very happy man, in the material and social realm. BUT, since anti-god, anti-Bible, anti-morality won the day for the majority of voters in America, it also means that Revival, that powerful differentiation between God’s people and this present world, also won the day!

Our great God is never shaken nor confused over the affairs of humanity. Remember, He knows the human heart better than we ever will.

Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.” (John 2:23–25, KJV 1900)

So, what time is it?! It’s time to get with the program! It’s time to capture God’s timetable and abandon the placement of trust in human hope and change. God’s time is kairos; Man’s finite, ticking-of-the-clock time is kronos. His time is transcendent–it crashes unexpectedly into human routine–it’s all about opportunity! NEVER in our lifetime have we faced such times and circumstances that allow for monumental, earth-shaking impact upon the souls of men and women seeking for True Life! Rip the cover off your mask, Apostolics! Let the word out! We have the Answer!

Senior Pastor Don Haymon II began his journey as a minister when he was raised in the home of the founder of Calvary Apostolic Church—his father. In 1986 he concluded a four-year internship under his father as associate pastor. It was at that time that he received his ordination certificate as a minister of the gospel. He married LaRonda Ellard, in 1992. He earned a bachelor of arts in Communication from the University of Denver the same year. In 1997, Don became senior pastor. In 2013 he graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Christian Leadership from Hope International University. Today, he is the passionate shepherd of Calvary Apostolic Church of Denver, guided by a compelling and true call of God. For those in his pastoral care, he seeks personal development and spiritual growth as a priority. His preaching and teaching has taken him around the world to at least 10 countries. Under his leadership, he has founded six churches in Burma. The challenge of communicating the Acts 2:38 gospel worldwide remains his heartbeat as well as the constant growth pattern of the local church in Denver. He and LaRonda are the parents of three grown children. They reside in Castle Rock, CO.
